Create notification
This guide explains, step‑by‑step, how to create a notification and what each field means.
Quick outcome
You can publish a basic notification in under a minute: set Title, Start/End Date, enter a Message, then click Create. Draft if you’re not ready yet.
Step‑by‑step
Fast track
If you're on the main dashboard and need to create a notification quickly, click Create Notification directly from there.
- Open your Notifications page and click Create Notification.
- (Optional) Upload an image if your preset supports media.
- Fill in all required fields (see Field reference below).
- Choose Save as Draft to save without publishing, or Create to publish per schedule.
Field reference
| Field | Required | What it does | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Project | – | Target project the notification belongs to | You could change project at Notification Page |
| Media | Optional | Image shown with the notification (when preset supports media) | PNG/JPG/WebP. Files cannot be larger than 5 MB. |
| Title | Yes | Internal name used in console | Not user‑visible; keep it short and understandable. |
| Action Type | Optional | What happens on user interaction | - No Action – informational. - Link – must provide a URL and select whether it opens on the same page or a new tab. - Close – works like No Action, but can be useful in some cases. |
| Display Preset | Yes | Controls size, placement, and styling | Examples: default, workspace‑specific custom presets. More information at Project Preset |
| Start Date | Yes | Start of the delivery window | Set in your local time; delivery uses server time. |
| End Date | Yes | End of the delivery window | Must be after Start Date. Delivery stops automatically. |
| Message | Yes | The text shown to users | Be concise; some presets truncate long text. |
warning
The notification will be active according to your local time. For example, if you set 15:00–17:00, it will appear for all users during that window, regardless of their time zone.
Save and publish
Draft vs Create
- Save as Draft keeps the notification hidden (not delivered), even if dates are valid.
- Create publishes your notification. Future Start Dates schedule activation; notifications with past Start and End Dates will not be shown.
Validation
Required fields
Title, Message, Start Date, and End Date must be provided. End Date must be after Start Date.
Unsupported image types or extremely large files (larger than 5 MB) are rejected.
Scheduling behavior
What happens over time
- During the active window (Start–End), the notification is eligible for delivery through API.
- After the End Date, delivery stops automatically; the record stays for auditing/analytics.
Tips
Write for clarity
- Use short, action‑oriented messages; pick a preset that matches the context.
- Prefer tight time windows for urgent content; broader windows for onboarding/evergreen.
- Drafts help with collaboration and approvals before publishing.
Troubleshooting
Notification not visible?
- Confirm the correct project, schedule window, and that it’s not still a Draft.
- Ensure client apps support the chosen Display Preset.
